Light Boxes
These light boxes area concept I came up with at the beginning of 2023. The panels were inspired by turing patterns - a naturally occurring pattern formation discover by Alan Turing. Turing patterns are also known as reaction diffusion. Turing patterns explain why Zebras have stripes, why Leopards have spots, etc...
Problem
Creating a piece of wall art light installation that is visually engaging both off and on.
Solution
The wall panel I created utilizes laser cut pieces of 1/4' plywood glued on top of each other, with an acrylic diffusion layer on the back. The panel sits on a box that holds an RGBIC LED strip light. The light connects to an app to program the light colors. The lights can be automated to a repeating pattern, as well as a daily schedule to turn on and off.
